Every legend has it's story
We began as a clan among friends that Sphex had made during his time in the Pokemon Vortex clan, led by Patrick himself. Patrick informed Sphex when he joined the clan that it was primarily for testing, and initially, Sphex was okay with this. That changed when Sphex rallied a ragtag group of friends that he never expected to grow so close with. Over time, both Sphex and the other members felt like establishing something on their own, a group that didn't focus on leaderboards but on the community that Sphex had grown to love. That's when the Envious clan, or NVS, was born.
In the beginning, finding loyal, interested players who would stick around was difficult. Envious was considered an alternate account hub or stepping stone to larger clans. Many players came and went in the first year, but those who stayed and saw our potential became some of Sphex's best friends. His original goal was to create a clan focused on being a close-knit community and building strong bonds among members. This ambitious goal was not without its strains.
We had to part ways with some close friends, but we endured. Eventually, we decided to phase out alternate accounts, and we started setting joining requirements. This strategy had its advantages and disadvantages, but it did help our community strengthen. It was a struggle since many players were already loyal to clans that predated the existence of Envious. Many players who met our requirements would often leave to join a larger clan once they reached the experience requirements, thus cementing Envious's role as a stepping stone rather than a destination.
There were times when Sphex doubted the success of his goals with Envious, but there were a few turning points that restored our faith. As we became stricter about who we let in, we saw positive changes. We began by ejecting guests from our Discord server, barring trainers who had left us from returning, which surprisingly had a positive impact on our community. The loyal members became the foundation of our community as it stands today. We stopped trying to please those who didn't want to stick around and instead made those who did feel at home.
In doing so, we encouraged steady growth and suddenly had more people reaching out to join. More and more trainers found a new home with us. Along with our loyal members, we slowly built the community Envious is today, eventually transforming into the largest and most successful clan in Pokemon Vortex. Something tells me Sphex couldn't be prouder of the people our members have become.
